Job Description

Role Overview: UST is seeking a Specialist I in Software Engineering to join their team. As a Specialist I, you will have the opportunity to design, develop, and automate data processing workflows using Java-Spark on GCP. Your responsibilities will include developing ETL processes, managing and provisioning GCP resources, providing platform and pipeline support, collaborating with data scientists and analysts, delivering technical support to internal users, optimizing data systems for performance and reliability, and performing root cause analysis for recurring issues. Key Responsibilities: - Design, develop, and automate data processing workflows using Java-Spark on GCP - Develop ETL processes to handle diverse data sources and formats - Manage and provision GCP resources such as Dataproc clusters, serverless batches, Vertex AI instances, GCS buckets, and custom images - Provide platform and pipeline support to analytics and product teams, troubleshooting issues related to Spark, BigQuery, Airflow DAGs, and serverless workflows - Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand data needs and deliver robust solutions - Provide timely and effective technical support to internal users, addressing their data-related queries and problems - Optimize and fine-tune data systems for high performance, reliability, and cost efficiency - Perform root cause analysis for recurring issues and collaborate with data analysts and scientists to implement preventative measures Qualifications Required: - Strong programming skills in Java, Spark, SQL - Hands-on experience with cloud platforms - Expertise in GCP data tools such as BigQuery, Dataproc, Vertex AI, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions Additional Details: UST is a company that values humility, humanity, and integrity.
