Data Analyst

Morningstar is seeking Data Analysts to join our Data and Operations group in an entry-level position. As a Data Analyst, you will have the opportunity to work with diverse datasets, such as public equity filings, private market transactions, ESG taxonomies, Managed Investment Data (Funds), and reference entity data. This role will provide you with practical experience and the chance to enhance your knowledge of investment management. You will be expected to work with tools like Excel, SQL, and Power BI, and receive structured training to support your growth and long-term success. This role is based in our Mumbai office, with a preference for candidates residing in Mumbai. Data Analysts in this position may be required to work in rotational shifts, including night shifts. A typical day at work for a Data Analyst includes searching, collecting, and verifying data of basic and intermediate levels of complexity. You will also address internal and client queries to ensure that the captured data aligns with methodologies and policy guidelines. It is essential to quickly grasp research methods and process standards to maintain productivity, quality, and timeliness. Collaboration with your team, cross-functional, and external parties may be necessary to resolve data issues. In addition to your core responsibilities, you will have opportunities to innovate, improve processes/tools, and participate in stretch projects or tasks. To excel in this role, you should hold a Bachelor's degree, preferably in finance, with at least 60% marks. Proficiency in English communication, MS Office tools (especially Excel and Word), quick learning ability, attention to detail, proactive mindset, and effective task prioritization under tight deadlines are desirable qualities. This position is open to fresh graduates as well as professionals with up to 1 year of experience. The hiring process for this role includes an Online Assessment covering domain knowledge (finance), cognitive ability, English language, and a typing test. Successful candidates will attend a Candidate Information Session to learn more about Morningstar and our business areas.
