Job Title: Cyber Crime Officer

Job Summary:

The Cyber Crime Officer will be responsible for investigating, monitoring, and preventing cyber-related criminal activities. This role involves gathering digital evidence, conducting forensic analysis, monitoring suspicious online activities, and supporting law enforcement in prosecuting cyber criminals. The officer will work closely with IT security teams, regulatory authorities, and legal departments to mitigate cyber threats and ensure digital safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Investigation & Analysis

  • Investigate cybercrime incidents, including hacking, phishing, identity theft, online fraud, ransomware, and data breaches.
  • Conduct digital forensic analysis to collect, preserve, and document evidence admissible in court.
  • Monitor dark web and online platforms for suspicious or illegal activities.
  1. Cybersecurity Monitoring & Prevention

  • Monitor networks, systems, and applications for unusual or unauthorised activity.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to strengthen firewalls, intrusion detection, and security measures.
  • Develop strategies to prevent online crimes and recommend security upgrades.
  1. Legal & Compliance Support

  • Prepare investigation reports and evidence for legal proceedings.
  • Support law enforcement in filing charges and prosecuting cyber criminals.
  • Ensure compliance with cyber laws, data protection regulations, and digital evidence protocols.
  1. Collaboration & Training

  • Work with government agencies, police, and cyber security experts to share intelligence.
  • Provide training and awareness programs on cybercrime prevention for employees or the public.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in cyber laws and cyber forensics.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Digital Forensics, or related field.
  • Professional certifications such as

    CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker), CHFI (Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator), CISM, CISSP

    preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of cyber laws, IT Act, and data protection regulations.
  • Proficiency in digital forensics tools (e.g., EnCase, FTK, Autopsy, Wireshark).
  • Experience in investigating cybercrimes and handling digital evidence.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain confidentiality.
