Role Overview: As a Cook at Westin, your main responsibility is to prepare ingredients, cook food according to recipes and quality standards, and ensure the food preparation checklist is followed. Your tasks include washing, peeling, chopping, and storing food items, as well as weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients. Operating kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers, and testing foods to ensure they are cooked sufficiently are also part of your duties. Additionally, monitoring food quality, maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen area, and serving food in proper portions are key aspects of your role. Key Responsibilities: - Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food - Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables - Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients - Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, and presentation standards - Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers - Test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently - Monitor food quality while preparing food - Set-up and break down work station - Serve food in proper portions onto proper receptacles - Wash and disinfect the kitchen area, tables, tools, knives, and equipment - Check and ensure the correctness of the temperature of appliances and food Qualifications Required: - Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent - Related Work Experience: At least 1 year of related work experience - Supervisory Experience: No supervisory experience - License or Certification: None Note: At Westin, diversity is valued, and equal opportunities are provided to all associates.
