As a Core SME, your role involves architecting and designing the technical vision and architecture, ensuring scalability, reliability, and efficiency. You will lead efforts in query optimization, indexing strategies, and efficient data partitioning for distributed workloads. Enhancing PostgreSQL and Citus features to improve distributed data processing will be a key responsibility. Designing and implementing robust replication, failover, and backup strategies to ensure high availability is also part of your role. You will be responsible for ensuring data integrity, encryption, and adherence to industry security standards. Enhancing database monitoring tools for improved observability and collaborating closely with developers, DevOps, and product teams to align database technology with business needs are also crucial aspects of your job. Staying updated with industry trends in distributed databases, cloud-native architectures, and storage engines is essential to drive research and innovation. Key Responsibilities: - Architect & Design: Define the technical vision and architecture for scalability and efficiency. - Performance Optimization: Lead efforts in query optimization, indexing strategies, and data partitioning. - Database Internals & Citus Integration: Enhance PostgreSQL and Citus features for distributed data processing. - Replication & High Availability: Design and implement robust replication and backup strategies. - Security & Compliance: Ensure data integrity, encryption, and industry security standards adherence. - Tooling & Monitoring: Enhance database monitoring tools for improved observability. - Collaboration: Work closely with developers, DevOps, and product teams to align database technology with business needs. - Research & Innovation: Stay updated with industry trends in distributed databases, cloud-native architectures, and storage engines. Required Skills & Experience: - Strong expertise in PostgreSQL internals, Citus, and distributed databases. - Proficiency in C, C++ for database engine development and performance tuning. - Deep understanding of replication, sharding, and high-availability architectures. - Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL performance monitoring tools. - Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native database deployments. - Experience in database security, access control, and encryption. - Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to mentor engineering teams. Preferred Qualifications: - Contributions to PostgreSQL, Citus, or open-source database projects. - Knowledge of distributed consensus algorithms (Raft, Paxos). - Experience in parallel query execution and exposure to AI/ML-driven database optimizations.,
