Copyeditor - Books and Journals

Role & responsibilities

1. Review and revise content for accuracy, quality, and consistency, ensuring correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, and syntax.
2. Ensure the content aligns with the desired tone, voice, clarity, flow, and structure.
3. Adhere to the in-house style guide and ensure all content complies with these standards.
4. Update and compile style guides as needed to maintain consistency.
5. Enhance the readability and coherence of research articles, improving overall text quality.
6. Identify and correct poorly written or unclear sections of text to improve readability.
7. Stay up to date with current language standards and style manuals.
8. Check for correct grammar, adherence to in-house style, and proper use of language tools to ensure consistency (capitalization, spaces, quotation marks, dashes, vocabulary, spelling, etc.).
9. Verify the inclusion of all references cited in the text and ensure they are properly listed in the reference section.
10. Improve the overall flow of text, ensuring clarity and ease of reading.
11. Raise author queries when necessary and incorporate their revisions and suggestions accordingly.
12. Rearrange sentences and paragraphs to enhance clarity and coherence.
13. Handle editing for both books and journals, ensuring high-quality output in all formats.

Preferred candidate profile

• Proven experience in content editing or proofreading.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high-quality work.
• Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work with both long-form and academic content, including books and research journals.
• Familiarity with editing and proofreading tools.
• Strong communication skills to interact with authors and raise queries when needed.

• Immediate joiners will be preferred.

• Flexibility to work in rotational shifts (including night shifts).
