Roles & Responsibilities

• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical designs and specifications
  
• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain applications using

  CoolGen / CA Gen / COOL:Gen

• Create detailed high- and low-level designs, data models, interface designs, and integration strategies
  
• Work with legacy systems, mainframes, and modern systems in hybrid landscapes
  
• Integrate CoolGen-based modules with other systems (e.g. via APIs, message queues, middleware)
  
• Lead or mentor junior CoolGen developers, reviewing their design and code
  
• Enforce development best practices, coding standards, design patterns, version control, etc.
  
• Perform performance tuning, optimization, and debugging of CoolGen-generated applications
  
• Conduct unit tests, integration tests, and assist with system testing
  
• Participate in code reviews, architecture reviews, and design workshops
  
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams: business analysts, QA, operations, enterprise architects
  
• Maintain technical documentation (design docs, interface specs, runbooks)
  
• Support migration, modernization, or transformation initiatives (e.g. moving from legacy to newer tech)
  
• Troubleshoot production issues, provide rootcause analysis, and deliver fixes
  
• Stay updated on latest industry trends, tools, techniques relevant to CoolGen / enterprise systems
  

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong experience in

  CoolGen / CA Gen / COOL:Gen

  development
• Deep understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, etc.)
  
• Experience with

  mainframes, COBOL, JCL

  , or other legacy systems integration
• Knowledge of relational databases (DB2, Oracle, SQL Server) and writing efficient SQL
  
• Experience with middleware, messaging, APIs, integration (e.g. MQ, REST, web services)
  
• Ability to design modular, maintainable, scalable software architecture
  
• Good debugging, problem-solving, performance tuning skills
  
• Version control systems (e.g. Git, SVN, etc.)
  
• Familiarity with test practices, unit testing, regression testing
  
• Strong communication skills able to work with business & technical stakeholders
  
• Good documentation skills
  

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience in modernizing legacy applications (e.g. migrating CoolGen modules to microservices)
  
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  
• Experience with DevOps / CICD, automation
  
• Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, shell scripts)
  
• Understanding of enterprise architecture patterns
  
• Experience in quality assurance, test automation
