Job Description: Canteen Chef/Cook – Hospital Employee Cafeteria Position: Chef/Cook Location: Alipore , Kolkata Department: Employee Canteen Type: Full-Time / Shift-Based Shift Options: Morning / Evening / Night (Rotational or Fixed as per requirement) Job Summary:We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Chef/Cook for the employee canteen of our hospital. The ideal candidate should be well-versed in preparing basic South Indian cuisine, basic Chinese dishes, and other commonly served Indian meals. Experience in similar institutional or canteen settings is highly preferred. Key Responsibilities:Prepare and cook meals according to the canteen menu and dietary guidelines. Ensure food is cooked and served in a hygienic and timely manner. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and work areas. Follow food safety standards and hospital regulations. Coordinate with kitchen staff and support personnel to ensure smooth operations during assigned shifts. Manage inventory and assist in ordering supplies as required. Monitor portion sizes and minimize food wastage. Requirements:Proven experience as a cook or chef, preferably in a hospital/office canteen or similar environment. Ability to cook basic South Indian dishes (e.g., dosa, idli, sambar), basic Chinese (e.g., fried rice, noodles), and standard Indian meals (e.g., rice, dal, sabzi, chapati). Knowledge of hygiene and sanitation standards in food preparation. Physical stamina and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Flexible to work in morning, evening, or night shifts. Team player with good communication and time-management skills. Preferred Qualifications:Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role. Certification in food safety or culinary training is an added advantage.
