Compute Engineer (Nutanix & Rubrik Specialist)

We are seeking a seasoned Compute Engineer with deep expertise in Nutanix, Rubrik, and hybrid cloud environments to support and optimize compute infrastructure across Windows and Linux/Unix platforms. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong troubleshooting and automation skills, capable of working independently with vendors, managing TAC cases, and continuously identifying opportunities for infrastructure efficiency and cost optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

Infrastructure Operations & Automation:

• Administer and support Nutanix HCI (AHV, Prism) and Rubrik backup platforms.
• Automate server provisioning and decommissioning workflows in Nutanix and AWS using scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash) and API integration.
• Build automated backup and snapshot reporting for Nutanix and Rubrik environments.
• Knowledge of legacy virtualization and backup technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, Veritas, Commvault).

Support & Troubleshooting:

• Provide advanced troubleshooting across Windows and Linux/Unix server environments.
• Independently engage with vendors, open and manage TAC cases, and drive issue resolution.
• Regularly analyze and identify areas for infrastructure optimization and cost management across on-prem and cloud resources.
• Remediate vulnerabilities using Tenable and participate in routine patching cycles.

Cloud & Networking:

• Operate within hybrid cloud environments (AWS, Azure), including compute provisioning, DNS, DHCP, and integrated backup solutions.
• Contribute to cloud cost tracking and optimization.

Asset & ITSM Management:

• Maintain an accurate asset inventory of physical and virtual infrastructure.
• Use ServiceNow for incident, request, and change ticket management while adhering to SLAs.

Documentation & Collaboration:

• Create and maintain process documentation, project runbooks, technical SOPs, and architecture diagrams.
• Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders on infrastructure projects and system improvements.
• Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 7+ years of experience in systems engineering, compute infrastructure, or datacenter operations.
• Strong expertise in Nutanix (AHV/Prism) and Rubrik.
• Proficient in scripting and automation using PowerShell, Python, or Shell scripting.
• Experience working with Windows Server and Linux/Unix platforms.
• Knowledge of legacy backup and virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, Commvault, Veritas, etc.).
• Hands-on experience with AWS and Azure infrastructure services.
• Working knowledge of DNS, DHCP, patching, and Tenable for vulnerability management.
• Familiarity with ServiceNow or similar ITSM tools.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
• Proven ability to work independently, manage vendors, and resolve technical escalations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications such as Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP), AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, Microsoft Azure Administrator, or RHCE.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) is a plus.
• Understanding of ITIL best practices.
