Composite Design Engineer

**Job Description:** As a Composite Design Engineer at Datum Advanced Composites Private Limited, you will play a crucial role in the engineering team, focusing on the advancement of composite design and manufacturing processes. Your responsibilities will involve creating CAD models, defining drawings, designing tooling, and specifying product requirements to ensure the highest quality and performance standards are met. This position is based at our Advanced Manufacturing Facility in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. **Key Responsibilities:** - Generate accurate CAD models and detailed drawing definitions while adhering to design standards and specifications. - Design mould tools, jigs, and fixtures to enhance efficiency and quality in composite manufacturing processes. - Establish and uphold Design Standards and Product Specifications for consistency and compliance throughout projects. - Collaborate with diverse teams to develop precise Bill of Materials (BOM) for products, sub-assemblies, and components. - Utilize FEA and CFD simulations to evaluate structural and thermal performance of composite designs. - Analyze failure mechanisms and root causes to improve design reliability and durability. - Implement Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to optimize production processes. - Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure a smooth transition from design to production. - Participate in design reviews and provide technical expertise to contribute to project success. **Key Personal Attributes, Experiences, and Qualifications:** *Essential* - Proven experience as a Design Engineer, including UAV Platform and Tool Design, GD&T, BOM, and FMEA. - Proficiency in generating CAD models and assembly drawings using software like SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or similar. - Understanding of Engineering principles and experience with FEA and CFD simulations. - Familiarity with Design, Analysis, and Failure Mechanisms in FRP Composite Structures. - Knowledge of fixed-wing, multirotor, and/or hybrid UAV development processes. - Proficient in IT systems such as ERP, Microsoft365, SharePoint, MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. - Ability to work independently with strong communication skills. - Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Aerospace, Mechanical, Product Design Engineering, or related field. - Experience in UAV, Aerospace, Defence, Automotive, Marine industry, or similar. *Desired* - Over 5 years of experience in UAV platform design and development. - Familiarity with Indian Drone Policy and UAV Type Certification Requirements. *Benefits and Additional Information:* Datum Advanced Composites Private Limited offers exceptional career growth opportunities, competitive salaries, and attractive benefits.
