Job Title: Component Engineer (PCB and Schematic Library) Company: MP Consulting LLC Company Description: MPC is a medium scale company with a fun working environment where we provide challenging problem-solving for our clients. Mitul, our CEO, founded the company over 10 years ago as a one-man operation focused on providing engineering consulting services. Since then, we have grown to 80+ full-time employees with several part-time contractors. We are now a fully developed design firm. We provide services for our clients from initial concept through to production across electrical, mechanical, and firmware engineering. Job Description: MPC is seeking a skilled Component Engineer with 1 year of experience in PCB and Schematic Library component creation. As a Component Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the development of electronic products by creating and maintaining high-quality PCB footprints and schematic symbols following IPC guidelines. The preferred tool/software for this position is Altium, and experience with OrCAD will be beneficial. We do not have an education bar, and candidates with relevant experience are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities: 1. Create and maintain accurate and high-quality PCB footprints (land patterns) for electronic components using Altium Designer or other applicable tools. 2. Develop and maintain schematic symbols (library components) for various electronic components, ensuring compliance with IPC standards and guidelines. 3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Electrical Engineers, PCB Designers, and Mechanical Engineers, to understand component requirements and specifications. 4. Research and gather datasheets, specifications, and other technical documentation for electronic components to ensure accurate and comprehensive library creation. 5. Validate and verify the functionality and accuracy of created components through rigorous testing and verification processes. 6. Keep up-to-date with industry trends, IPC standards, and best practices in component engineering, and apply them to enhance component library development processes. 7. Support PCB layout designers and engineers by providing guidance and resolving component-related issues during the PCB design process. 8. Continuously improve component library processes and methodologies to streamline component selection, creation, and integration into designs. 9. Collaborate with external component suppliers and manufacturers to acquire accurate and up-to-date component information. Qualifications: 1. Minimum 1 year of experience in creating PCB footprints and schematic symbols in Altium Designer or similar tools. 2. Strong knowledge of IPC standards and guidelines for component library development. 3. Proficiency in Altium Designer for creating PCB footprints and schematic symbols is required. Experience with OrCAD is desirable. 4. Solid understanding of electronic component specifications, datasheets, and technical documentation. 5. Familiarity with PCB design principles, including layout, routing, and manufacturing constraints. 6. Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy and consistency in component library creation. 7. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve component-related issues. 8. Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external suppliers. 9. Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as part of a team, in a fast-paced environment. 10.
