Indian - Commi III (Kitchen Helper)

As a Commis III / Kitchen Helper, you will play a vital role in assisting the kitchen team in food preparation and maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen. This entry-level position is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about learning culinary skills and gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

You will work under the supervision of senior chefs and kitchen staff, ensuring that food is prepared to the highest standards while adhering to safety and hygiene protocols.

Key Responsibilities:1. Food Preparation and Assistance:

• Assist in basic food preparation tasks such as cleaning, peeling, chopping, slicing, and portioning ingredients.
• Help in preparing mise en place (ingredients and equipment) for dishes as required by senior chefs.
• Prepare basic sauces, salads, garnishes, and other simple items under supervision.
• Ensure all ingredients are prepared according to recipe specifications.

2. Cleaning and Maintenance:

• Keep the kitchen and food preparation areas clean, organized, and hygienic at all times.
• Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen tools regularly to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards.
• Maintain proper cleaning routines for workstations, kitchen floors, sinks, and storage areas.
• Ensure proper disposal of waste and rubbish.

3. Assisting in Cooking:

• Assist in the cooking process by preparing ingredients and running dishes to senior chefs.
• Follow recipes and instructions as directed by higher-level chefs.
• Ensure that all food items are cooked to the correct standards and served at the right temperature.

4. Stock Handling and Storage:

• Assist in storing ingredients and supplies in the correct manner to avoid spoilage or contamination.
• Monitor stock levels and report shortages or damaged goods to the supervisor.
• Follow proper stock rotation to ensure freshness and minimize waste.
• Help with unloading and storing deliveries in compliance with food safety regulations.

5. Hygiene and Safety Compliance:

• Maintain personal hygiene by wearing clean kitchen uniforms, gloves, and appropriate footwear.
• Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards, including handwashing and sanitizing of surfaces.
• Follow health and safety procedures to prevent accidents and injuries in the kitchen.
• Ensure all kitchen equipment and utensils are used properly and maintained in good condition.

6. Supporting Other Team Members:

• Work closely with other kitchen staff, including senior chefs and other commis, to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
• Be proactive in helping other team members with their tasks and responsibilities.
