Commi Chef

The Commis 1 Chef supports the kitchen team in preparing high-quality, fresh food in line with Jamie Oliver brand standards. The role focuses on developing strong foundational cooking skills while maintaining excellent hygiene, consistency, and teamwork in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and cooking of dishes according to Jamie Oliver recipes and specifications
• Support senior chefs during service to ensure smooth kitchen operations
• Prepare mise en place (vegetables, sauces, proteins, garnishes) to required standards
• Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and portion control
• Follow all food safety, hygiene (HACCP), and health & safety procedures
• Keep workstations clean, organized, and fully stocked
• Minimize food waste and use ingredients efficiently
• Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating stock (FIFO)
• Work collaboratively with the kitchen and front-of-house teams
• Be open to learning new techniques, menu items, and kitchen skills

Skills & Qualifications

• Culinary certificate or diploma (preferred but not always required)
• Previous experience as a Commis Chef or kitchen trainee
• Basic knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques
• Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
• Ability to work under pressure in a busy kitchen
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Passion for fresh, seasonal ingredients and simple, honest food
