The Opportunity

Location: Remote

Experience: 1+ years of experience

Nature of Employment: Contract

Key Responsibilities:

• Write 5-6 articles daily (around 400-650 words each), including features, listicles, news updates, and exclusive interviews, focusing on College Football, College Basketball and High School sports- football, basketball.
• Ensure accuracy and clarity in all content, adhering to College Sports Network (CSN)’s guidelines while meticulously checking for spelling, grammar, and contextual accuracy.
• Pitch fresh story ideas and support the vertical lead in crafting content plans around significant events and news.
• Cover all relevant news within your shift, ensuring timely updates and no backlog for the next shift.
• Source stories from leading news outlets, social media sites, and podcasts.
• Stay on top of the latest developments in college and high school football, including player performances, team dynamics, and key events.
• Contribute to the growth and enhancement of the College Football, College Basketball and High School sports sections at College Sports Network (CSN).

Requirements:

• 1-3 years of experience in sports writing. Writing about College basketball/ College Football and/or high School Football is highly preferred.
• Basic understanding of American Football and the culture surrounding it.
• Proven skills in content strategy, editing, and topic ideation.
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Up-to-date knowledge of recent developments in College Basketball and College Football—teams, players, and major events is a plus.
• Familiarity with local football and basketball communities and their dynamics is a plus.
• A network within the high school football community is advantageous.
