Job Description

Job Summary:

The CIM Equipment Automation Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting automation systems for semiconductor manufacturing operations. This role involves implementing robust CIM solutions, integrating equipment via SECS/GEM protocols, maintaining operational reliability, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and quality teams.

Key Responsibilities:

CIM System Design & Development

  • Develop and maintain automation systems, including Transport Systems, Recipe Management, Remote Control Systems, Live Equipment Monitoring, and Fault Detection & Classification.
  • Collaborate with fab teams, operations users, and partners to implement robust CIM solutions through quality coding and testing.
  • Integrate semiconductor equipment with customized protocols (SECS/GEM) through communication hosts.
  • Parse equipment data to extract relevant process and operational information supporting backend engineering systems.

Operational Support & Maintenance

  • Monitor and maintain hardware and software systems to ensure high uptime and reliability of CIM-related tools.
  • Manage database transactions and Oracle packages for data management and performance tuning.
  • Track equipment performance, ensuring availability of data transfer and compliance with operational requirements.
  • Conduct regular maintenance, updates, and troubleshooting of automation programs.
  • Respond to adhoc requests and production-critical issues, ensuring timely resolution of hardware or software problems.
  • Participate in shift pass-down meetings and provide detailed reports or feedback on CIM issues.
  • Be available for on-call support to maintain 24x7 operational readiness.

Continuous Improvement & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Manufacturing and Quality teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and automation enhancements.
  • Participate in cross-functional initiatives to enhance production efficiency, quality, and reliability.
  • Contribute to Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP) projects and perform quality checks.

Qualifications:

  • BE in Mechanical (Automation/Robotics), Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • 210 years of experience in automation, CIM systems, or semiconductor manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in semiconductor foundry or familiarity with DevOps tools is a plus.

Technical Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong programming skills in C, C#, C++, Java, and SQL with at least 2 years of development experience.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting, debugging, and diagnosing hardware/software CIM issues.
  • Keen interest and adaptability to work in cleanroom semiconductor environments.
  • Knowledge or willingness to learn SEMI standards and semiconductor manufacturing processes.
  • Practical problem-solving skills during production-critical situations, remaining composed under pressure.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to work effectively with Manufacturing, Quality, and IT teams.
  • Enthusiasm for learning new technologies, tools, and systems relevant to CIM implementation.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and time effectively in a dynamic environment.
