Chemist - Distillery

Job Description

Role Overview: We are looking for a Chemist in our Grain Neutral Spirit (GNS) distillery, primarily responsible for quality control, research and development, and production process optimization. This role requires a strong understanding of chemistry, particularly in areas like fermentation, distillation, and analytical techniques. Responsibilities: Ensures the quality of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products through various testing methods. This includes developing and implementing quality control procedures and monitoring adherence to established standards. Work on the production floor, optimizing fermentation and distillation processes, managing yeast cultures, and troubleshooting any chemical-related issues in the production process. Conducts laboratory analysis of samples, develops and validates new analytical methods, and supports research and development activities related to product improvement and innovation Analyse and interpret data from experiments and quality control testing Identify and troubleshoot chemical-related issues in the production process Developing and implementing quality control procedures and standards Requirements: A bachelor's or master's degree in chemistry or a related field Minimum 5 years of experience in the distillery ENA and GNS Knowledge of fermentation, distillation, and other related processes in the production of alcoholic beverages Relevant experience in the distillery or food and beverage industry is often preferred. Strong understanding of chemical principles, including organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, and biochemistry Proficiency in various analytical techniques such as chromatography, spectroscopy, and titrations
