The DAV Group - Chennai, functioning under the aegis of Tamil Nadu Arya Samaj Educational Society was established in 1970 at Gopalapuram in Chennai with just 50 students. The Group today, caters to over 40,000 students across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. It has a staff of 1500 plus which includes 1,200 teachers. In addition to K-12 schooling, DAV has recently ventured into Higher Education with DAV-SMK Fomra College of Arts & Science at Kelambakkam, Chennai.
Summary
We are seeking a creative and enthusiastic Theatre / Drama Teacher to join our co-curricular team. The ideal candidate should have a degree in Theatre Arts / Drama / Performing Arts (or equivalent), with a passion for theatre and a flair for mentoring students. The role involves planning and delivering drama/theatre classes, organizing and directing school plays and performances, mentoring students’ creative and performance skills, and contributing to the school’s co-curricular and cultural programs.
Educational Qualification & Eligibility

Bachelor’s degree (or above) in Theatre Arts / Drama / Performing Arts / Drama Education (or a related field).

A teaching qualification / certification may be preferred or required. (Depending on school/board norms)
Key Roles & Responsibilities

Plan and conduct theatre/drama lessons: acting, improvisation, voice/modulation, movement, stage-presence, script reading, dramatization, etc.

Develop and manage a theatre arts curriculum or activity schedule: drama club, workshops, rehearsals, performances, suitable for different age groups.

Organize and direct school theatrical productions: plays, skits, events — including casting, rehearsals, stage-management, props/costumes/lighting/sound (if applicable).

Assess and provide feedback on student performances; track student progress and development in drama skills.

Foster a safe, inclusive, supportive and creative environment; help students build confidence, expression, teamwork, discipline, and stage etiquette.

Maintain records (attendance, performance evaluations, production details), coordinate with other school staff/teachers, and contribute to overall co-curricular / cultural life of the school.
