Job Description

Role & responsibilities

Pre-Procedural Responsibilities

Patient Preparation:
Verify patient identity and procedure consent.
Prepare patients physically and mentally for procedures.
Explain procedure steps and answer queries under supervision.
Equipment and Inventory Checks:
Ensure all equipment is functioning.
Calibrate imaging systems and verify radiation safety protocols.
Check availability of catheters, guidewires, stents, contrast media, and emergency medications.

Intra-Procedural Support

Procedure Assistance:
Assist cardiologists in coronary angiograms, angioplasties, pacemaker insertions, etc.
Monitor patient vitals and ECG in real-time.
Manage contrast injectors and operate imaging systems.
Sterility and Asepsis:
Maintain strict sterile techniques during all procedures.
Ensure surgical field and trays remain uncontaminated.
Documentation:
Record procedure details, radiation doses, and medication usage accurately.
Maintain logs for each case, including complications and consumables.

Post-Procedural Duties

Patient Monitoring:
Monitor patient vitals during recovery period.
Assist in sheath removal and apply pressure dressings.
Clean-up and Reporting:
Decontaminate equipment and dispose of biomedical waste properly.
Restock materials and update procedure logs and billing entries.

Equipment Maintenance

Perform routine maintenance and coordinate servicing of cath lab machines.
Calibrate equipment and report malfunctions immediately.
