Job Description – Buffer (Sheet Metal Fabrication – Metro Train Division)

Reports To: Supervisor / Production In charge

1. Job Purpose

To perform buffing, grinding, and surface finishing of sheet metal components used in metro train coaches, ensuring high-quality surface preparation before welding, painting, or assembly.

2. Key Responsibilities

• Perform buffing, grinding, and polishing of stainless steel and aluminium sheet metal parts.
• Ensure components meet surface finish standards required for metro train fabrication.
• Remove weld spatter, scratches, burrs, and sharp edges from fabricated parts.
• Operate buffing machines, hand grinders, pneumatic tools, and polishing wheels safely.
• Maintain dimensional accuracy while achieving smooth finishing.
• Inspect finished parts visually and report defects or deviations.
• Work closely with fitters, welders, and quality inspectors.
• Follow all Safety Protocols, including PPE usage.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work area cleanliness.

3. Skills & Competencies

• Skilled in buffing, grinding, polishing, and surface preparation.
• Experience in SS / Aluminium sheet metal fabrication.
• Knowledge of fabrication processes (cutting, bending, welding) is an advantage.
• Ability to understand basic drawings and finish specifications.
• Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle buffing machinery safely.

4. Experience Requirements

• 1–3 years experience as a Buffer in sheet metal fabrication.
• Experience in metro coach manufacturing / railway / heavy fabrication preferred.

5. Education

• SSLC / ITI (Welder / Fitter) preferred, but not mandatory with relevant experience.

6. Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for long hours.
• Comfortable working with power tools and metal components.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹14,501.19 - ₹22,541.58 per month
