Bioinformatics Scientist

Role Overview: As a Field Bioinformatics Scientist at MGI, you will be instrumental in the design, development, optimization, and maintenance of in-house bioinformatics pipelines and genomics applications. Your primary focus will be on understanding customer research queries, providing customized solutions, and resolving technical challenges for global sales and customers. Collaboration with various teams like FAS, FSE, Product Managers, and R&D will be crucial to offer feedback, create tailored solutions, and support solution provision. Key Responsibilities: - Stay updated on sequencing, bioinformatics, MGI products, and industry trends - Evaluate new software/tools for suitability in diverse applications - Apply best-practice statistical and computational methods - Provide technical pre-sales and post-sales support services - Conduct training sessions and webinars for customers and the sales team - Manage documentations including training materials, FAQs, slides, videos, SOPs, and knowledge base content Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree or higher with a minimum of 3 years of experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, or Computer Science - Proficiency in developing next-generation sequencing data analysis methods for DNA, RNA, and Long read analysis - Expertise in scripting languages such as Python, bash, Perl, C++, and R - Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively - Efficient task management and adaptability to a fast-paced environment - Experience with version control systems like Git and proficiency in Linux operating systems like Ubuntu, Fedora, CentOS - Familiarity with a wide range of bioinformatics tools Additional Details: At MGI, the focus is on promoting advanced life science tools for future healthcare and making a positive impact on lives.
