BIM Modeller / Design Draughtsman - Plumbing

Job Description

Undertakes the detailed design and preparation of working drawings for the Plumbing & Fire Fighting works for major commercial and light industrial buildings. Knowledge of BIM softwares such as Navisworks is must. Ensure that the design and drawings are prepared in accordance with the contract drawings, specifications and other contract documents. Co-ordinate the Electrical services with the building layouts and other services. Ensure that the drawings should comply all the requirements pertaining to the presentation, neatness and aesthetic view. Ensure that the drawings are prepared within the productivity norms. Responsibilites- Ensure the accuracy and technical correctness of the design and co ordination of the working drawings produced. Prepare the working drawings in accordance with the project and company standards and specifications. Co-ordinate the Plumbing & Fire Fighting drawings with the civil and architectural layouts. Co-ordinate the Plumbing & Fire Fighting services with the Air- Conditioning, and Electrical services, including preparation of multiservice details. Resolution of technical difficulties with the professional team. Resolution of technical difficulties with the site team as directed by the Project Engineer. Design works required by the contract. Obtain drawing approval from the professional team. Issue the approved drawings to site. Maintain the working drawing register for the Plumbing & Fire Fighting drawings. Maintain the daily record of the work done including time sheet. Participate in preparation and implement quality assurance plans. Preparation of record drawings. Identification of additional works and advice the Project Engineer to enable formal instructions to be obtained. Key Skills - Detailed engineering knowledge in the design and engineering of Plumbing & Fire Fighting systems for major commercial and light industrial buildings in the GCC. The services would include the following systems: External underground drainage systems. Soil and waste pipe works systems. Sanitary ware and bathroom fittings. Rain water surface water drainage Hot and cold water services. Fire Protection Systems LPG / SNG etc systems Fuel Oil Systems Understanding of the method of construction of buildings. Outline knowledge of the electrical and other mechanical service installations in buildings. Ability to communicate effectively in English - both orally and in writing Developed computer skills, particularly in computer aided drafting / 3D modeling packages, spreadsheets and databases. Detailed design ability to undertake pipe work sizing and pump duty calculations etc. Detailed knowledge of International, Dubai and Abu Dhabi codes of practice, regulations, and specifications for the construction industry with particular knowledge of the Municipal and Civil Defence requirements. Ability to read, understand, visualise and interpret drawings and specifications. An active personality, able to interact freely with his peers. Education - Diploma in Mechanical / Civil engineering / ITI Full time Course along with: Approved training in Plumbing / Fire Fighting Trade Approved training from a reputed institute in computer aided drafting packages particularly, Revit / AutoCad and Microstation. Knowledge of BIM softwares such as Navisworks is must. Experience - 8 to 10 years engineering experience with at least 5 years in the preparation of Plumbing / Fire Fighting construction drawings for buildings. Minimum 2 years of international experience, preferably in GCC countries would be an advantage. Minimum 2 years of experience in Revit in 3D modelling Site experience in installation / execution would be an advantage.
