Backend Engineer

As a Backend Engineer at Shipmnts, you will work in a fast-paced collaborative and agile environment using Ruby on Rails to build custom internal and public-facing applications. Your responsibilities will include: - Integration of user-facing elements with server-side logic - Writing clean, maintainable, reusable, reliable, and efficient code - Designing robust, scalable, and secure features - Contributing in all phases of the development lifecycle - Analyzing software requirements and providing solutions - Growing, developing, and leading an engineering team - Overseeing the implementation of engineering best practices - Optimizing the application for maximum speed and scalability - Designing and implementing data storage solutions Qualifications required for the role: - At least 2+ years of experience in Backend development - Strong background in Ruby and Python with knowledge of at least one web framework - Familiarity with ORM libraries and modern databases - Knowledge of browser-based technologies and API management at scale - Experience with Ruby on Rails, RSpec, Resque, and object-oriented programming - Ability to integrate multiple data sources and databases into one system - Experience with Test Drive Development (TDD), continuous integration, Scrum, Kanban - Knowledge of major cloud providers and experience with DevOps practices - Experience with Messaging Systems and micro-services architectural patterns - Ability to guide continuous improvement of process and technology You should be calm under pressure, have a great work ethic, communicate well, be self-aware, always pushing for a higher standard, proactive, open to new ideas and personal feedback, detail-oriented, intolerant to compromise, and a problem solver with a global mindset.
