Job Description

Job Title: Structural Engineer (Residential Wood Framing)

About the Role:

Structural Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

Model structural elements for single-family residential homes using Revit.
Interpret architectural drawings to determine joist directions, bearing walls, and key framing components.
Design and size structural components like beams, joists, and headers using Forte software.
Develop clean and organized Revit models for residential framing and foundation systems.
Export engineering documentation and PDF reports from Forte.
Apply standard residential framing practices and document design assumptions.
Independently review architectural plans and fill in missing information based on typical framing standards.

Requirements:

Proven experience in structural modeling for residential wood-framed homes using Revit.
Proficiency in Forte software for beam and joist sizing.
Strong understanding of residential structural systems: joists, beams, footings, and load paths.
Ability to work independently and accurately, even with partial architectural information.
Basic familiarity with U.S. construction codes and residential framing standards.

Good to Have:

Experience collaborating with residential builders or design firms.
Ability to translate architectural plans into engineered structural layouts.
Background in structural engineering or residential drafting.
