Job Description

Job Title: AV Technician

  • Install and configure audio-visual equipment, including projectors, microphones, speakers, and display systems. Ensure the correct choice of cables and connectors for each setup.
  • Organize and manage all AV cables, ensuring that proper connections are made (e.g., XLR, HDMI, VGA, Speakon, Ethernet), and cables are securely routed and stored to avoid damage and interference.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to AV equipment, cables, and connectors. Replace or repair faulty cables and connectors promptly during live events or routine operations.
  • Regularly inspect, test, and maintain cables, connectors, and AV equipment to ensure optimal functionality. Perform preventive maintenance on all AV systems and cabling infrastructure.
  • Work closely with clients to understand their AV requirements and advise on the best solutions regarding cables, connectors, and equipment setup.
  • Keep detailed records of cable inventory, equipment, and service history for future reference and troubleshooting.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an AV Technician or similar role with hands-on expertise in working with a variety of AV equipment and cabling systems.
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot audio-visual equipment, including projectors, microphones, speakers, lighting, and video equipment.
  • Provide training to staff or clients on how to operate AV systems.
  • Conduct regular maintenance checks on equipment to ensure its optimal functionality.
  • Deep understanding of AV cables and connectors, including XLR, HDMI, VGA, TRS, Speakon, BNC, and Ethernet cables. Ability to recognize and use the right cable for each application.
  • Ability to set up, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain AV equipment and ensure proper cable management.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve cable, connector, and equipment issues quickly during installations.
  • High attention to detail for managing cables and connectors to avoid technical issues such as signal loss, interference, or physical damage.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to lift and manage AV equipment, run cables, and manage installations in a variety of environments.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, depending on site situation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of networking systems and integration of AV and IT solutions.
  • Experience with advanced AV control systems and software.
  • Familiarity with networked AV systems, IP-based solutions, and integration of AV and IT systems.
  • Safety certifications (e.g., working with electrical systems, rigging, etc.) is a plus.
