Automotive Cybersecurity SME

About the Role:

Automotive Cybersecurity Subject Matter Expert (SME)

This is a content-focused consulting engagement requiring deep expertise in automotive cybersecurity standards, functional safety, and regulatory frameworks. The SME will create narrative learning material and participate directly in customer discovery sessions to tailor the content.

Responsibilities:

• Create

  high-quality narrative content

  (in MS Word) covering Automotive Cybersecurity concepts and regulations.
• Structure material around strategic learning objectives for OEM and Tier-1 stakeholders.
• Translate technical standards into clear, engaging educational content.
• Ensure accuracy, relevance, and applicability to real-world automotive programs.
• Participate in interactive sessions with customer teams.
• Ask targeted questions to understand pain points and expectations.
• Customize content based on insights gathered during discussions.
• Represent the subject matter with confidence and clarity.

Required Qualifications:

• 10+ years

  in automotive cybersecurity, functional safety, or automotive electronics.
• Deep knowledge of the following standards and regulations:

• ISO 26262

  Functional Safety

• ISO/SAE 21434

  Road Vehicles Cybersecurity

• UN R155 / AIS 189

  Cybersecurity Management System (CSMS)

• UN R156 / AIS 190

  Software Update Management System (SUMS)

• ISO/SAE 24089

  Software Update Engineering
• Hands-on experience working with

  OEMs

  or

  Tier-1 suppliers

  .
• Experience in cybersecurity governance, TARA processes, safety-security co-engineering, or compliance frameworks.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify technical concepts.
• Proven experience writing high-quality technical or training content.

Preferred Background:

• Former experience with OEMs such as Toyota, BMW, Daimler, Nissan, Volkswagen Group, Tata Motors, Mahindra, etc.
• Consulting or audit background with firms like TV, UL, Deloitte, EY, KPMG, Bosch, Continental, Aptiv, ETAS, or Argus Cyber Security.
• Experience delivering training, assessments, or advisory services.
