Role Overview

The Associate Professor in Psychology will provide academic leadership, deliver advanced-level teaching, supervise research, and contribute to curriculum development. The role requires strong subject expertise, a proven research record, and the ability to guide junior faculty and students.

Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching & Academic Delivery

• Teach undergraduate and postgraduate psychology courses with advanced conceptual depth.
• Prepare and deliver high-quality lectures, practical sessions, and workshops.
• Use innovative pedagogical methods and digital teaching tools.
• Assess student performance through exams, assignments, and project evaluations.

Research & Publications

• Lead research projects and secure research funding where possible.
• Publish high-quality research papers in reputed journals.
• Guide PhD/MPhil or postgraduate research scholars (if applicable).
• Participate in national and international conferences, seminars, and symposiums.

Student Mentorship

• Mentor students academically and professionally.
• Supervise internships, dissertations, fieldwork, and psychological assessments.
• Support student counselling initiatives where required.

Curriculum Development & Quality Enhancement

• Contribute to curriculum design, syllabus revision, and academic planning.
• Ensure compliance with UGC/NAAC guidelines and academic standards.
• Participate in quality assurance processes and accreditation activities.

Departmental Leadership

• Provide academic guidance to Assistant Professors and faculty teams.
• Coordinate departmental events, workshops, and extension activities.
• Support strategic planning and departmental growth initiatives.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Serve on academic committees and college bodies.
• Maintain academic records and reports as required.
• Promote a positive academic environment and institutional values.

Required Qualifications & SkillsEducational Qualifications (as per UGC norms)

• Master’s degree in Psychology with minimum 55% marks.
• PhD in Psychology (mandatory for Associate Professor).
• NET/SET qualification desirable if PhD was obtained after certain dates (per UGC guidelines).

Experience

• Minimum 8 years of teaching/research experience in a recognized university/college.
• Demonstrated research output with publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals.

Skills
