Assistant Professor of Mathematics | $35/hr

Our partner is seeking PhD holders, doctoral candidates, and exceptional Master's graduates in mathematics and related fields to join a high-impact AI research initiative in partnership with a leading AI lab.

This role involves evaluating and enhancing large language models (LLMs) by applying subject-matter expertise in advanced mathematics, including both graduate-level topics and high school competition-level problem solving.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate the accuracy, depth, and mathematical rigor of LLM-generated solutions to graduate-level and Olympiad-style math problems.
• Assess model performance on topics including advanced algebra, geometry, number theory, combinatorics, calculus, and mathematical reasoning.
• Complete structured evaluations using an 8–10 question rubric and provide concise written feedback explaining your scoring decisions.
• Identify reasoning flaws, incomplete solutions, or conceptual misunderstandings.
• Work independently and asynchronously using provided tools and guidelines.

You’re a strong fit if you have:

• A PhD (or are currently a PhD candidate) in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or a related STEM field.
• Deep familiarity with advanced mathematics and competition-style problem solving (e.g. AIME, HMMT, Putnam).
• Strong ability to evaluate multi-step reasoning and solution quality in technical mathematical tasks.
• Excellent analytical thinking and attention to detail.
• Strong written communication skills in mathematical contexts.
• Comfort working independently and asynchronously in a remote environment.
• Basic understanding of Python or willingness to learn is preferred, but not required.
