About the Role:

The School of Design and Digital Transmedia at Dayananda Sagar University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor. The ideal candidate should possess strong creative and technical expertise in Sketching, 2D Animation, Digital Art, and Preproduction Design, along with an aptitude for research, innovation, and academic mentorship.

The role involves teaching undergraduate students in the B.Design Program, guiding creative projects, and contributing to academic and industry-linked research within the evolving fields of Animation, Visual Arts, and Digital Media Design.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging classroom and studio sessions in Sketching, 2D Animation, Concept Art, and Preproduction Techniques.
• Guide students in visual development, including character design, environment design, color scripting, and storyboarding.
• Mentor students on academic projects, animation shorts, and portfolio development.
• Develop and update course content and lab modules aligned with industry standards and emerging tools.
• Conduct and publish research or creative practice in the areas of design, animation, or transmedia storytelling.
• Collaborate with faculty and industry professionals on interdisciplinary design initiatives and workshops.
• Participate actively in student reviews, exhibitions, events, and academic administration.

Essential Qualifications:

• Postgraduate degree (M.Des / M.F.A / M.V.A or equivalent) in Animation, Visual Communication, Digital Art, or related field.
• Ph.D. (Completed or Pursuing) in Design, Animation, or related discipline will be an added advantage.
• Strong foundation in traditional sketching, figure drawing, perspective, and composition.
• Proficiency in 2D Animation software such as Adobe Animate, Toon Boom Harmony, or equivalent.
• Expertise in Digital Art tools (Photoshop, Krita, Procreate, or equivalent).
• Comprehensive understanding of Preproduction workflows including ideation, storytelling, and visualization.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with a student-centric teaching approach.

Desirable Attributes:

• Familiarity with AI-assisted creative tools, motion graphics, and VFX workflows.
• Experience in academic research, publications, or studio collaborations.
• Strong organizational and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to creative pedagogy and innovation in design education.

Remuneration:

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, as per Dayananda Sagar University norms.
