Assistant Manager - Tech (BESS)

1. Technical Evaluation & Design

• Assist in preparing

  technical specifications

  for BESS projects (10 kW to 100 MW scale).
• Conduct

  site surveys and feasibility assessments

  for solar + storage and standalone BESS applications.
• Support in

  system design & sizing

  (kW, kWh, inverter, PCS, transformer, cooling, and control systems).
• Work with senior technical team to evaluate

  battery chemistries

  (LFP, NMC, Sodium-ion, etc.) and recommend suitable options.

2. Vendor & Technology Coordination

• Coordinate with

  OEMs, EPC contractors, and component suppliers

  for technical discussions.
• Compare proposals, datasheets, and

  evaluate vendor offers

  (battery packs, PCS, BMS, EMS, enclosures, HVAC).
• Support in preparing

  BoQs and technical due diligence reports

  .

3. Project Implementation Support

• Assist in

  installation, commissioning, and testing

  of BESS projects.
• Monitor adherence to

  safety protocols, quality standards, and grid compliance

  .
• Prepare project progress reports and escalate delays or technical issues to management.

4. Operations & Performance Monitoring

• Track

  system performance (charge/discharge cycles, round-trip efficiency, SoC/SoH levels)

  .
• Coordinate with O&M team to implement

  preventive and corrective maintenance

  .
• Analyze alarms, faults, and recommend corrective measures.

5. Regulatory & Compliance

• Stay updated on

  CEA, CERC, MNRE, and DISCOM guidelines

  related to BESS.
• Ensure compliance with grid codes, safety standards, and energy storage norms.

6. Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare

  technical documentation, SOPs, test reports, and training manuals

  .
• Support proposal/bid teams with

  technical inputs for tenders and DPRs

  .
• Present periodic

  MIS reports

  on project performance to senior management.

7. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work with the

  finance & strategy team

  to provide technical cost inputs.
• Coordinate with

  R&D/Innovation teams

  for pilot projects or new technology trials.
• Liaise with

  customers/clients

  to explain technical aspects and resolve queries.
• The role is essentially a

  bridge between engineering, vendors, and project execution teams

  , supporting senior managers in delivering reliable BESS projects.

Technical Project Support

• Assisted in design and sizing of grid-scale and C&I BESS projects (1 MW 50 MW capacity).
• Conducted site surveys, feasibility studies, and prepared preliminary engineering documents.
• Evaluated multiple battery technologies (LFP, NMC) and recommended suitable solutions for different use cases.

Vendor & Engineering Coordination

• Coordinated with international and domestic OEMs for supply of battery packs, PCS, BMS, EMS, and enclosures.
• Reviewed technical datasheets, proposals, and ensured compliance with project specifications.
• Supported in preparing Bill of Quantities (BoQ), RFP responses, and technical clarifications for tenders.

Project Execution & Commissioning

• Supported EPC contractors in installation, testing, and commissioning of BESS projects.
• Monitored adherence to safety standards, quality benchmarks, and statutory compliance.
• Documented commissioning reports and tracked initial performance parameters.

Operations & Monitoring

• Assisted in real-time monitoring of BESS systems through SCADA/EMS dashboards.
• Analyzed key performance metrics (round-trip efficiency, SoC, SoH, degradation trends).
• Coordinated corrective maintenance activities with OEMs and O&M teams.

Documentation & Reporting

• Prepared technical documentation including SOPs, test reports, and training material.
• Presented MIS reports on project status, performance, and vendor coordination to management.
• Contributed to DPRs and technical annexures for funding and client presentations.
