Job Description

As an Assistant Manager in Medical Underwriting, your role involves appraising medical risks for life insurance applications. This includes evaluating factors such as age, occupation, medical history, and financial standing to determine insurability. You will need to assess the level of risk in applications with adverse medical findings, where a medical opinion is required for accepting or rejecting insurance coverage. Additionally, you will evaluate the medical conditions and analyze test results of applicants, underwrite new and existing business, and make recommendations on insurance coverage within the underwriting policy limits. Handling routine and non-routine cases, as well as renewals, is also part of your responsibilities. For challenging cases, you are expected to refer them to your superiors and assess financial documents comprehensively. Key Responsibilities: - Appraise medical risks for life insurance applications - Evaluate factors such as age, occupation, and medical history - Analyze financial standing and other relevant conditions for insurability - Assess level of risk involved in applications with adverse medical findings - Underwrite new and existing business, recommending acceptance or rejection of insurance coverage - Handle routine, non-routine, and renewal cases - Refer difficult cases to superiors for further assessment - Summarize and assess financial documents thoroughly Qualifications Required: - Graduate with at least 5 years of experience in Operations or related fields - MBBS / B.Sc (Hons) in Nursing / B.Pharm / BPT / Insurance Qualified preferred In addition to the above, you are expected to ensure adherence to Turnaround Time (TAT) for underwriting proposals, comply with all regulatory requirements, and report any exceptions. Leading a team of motivated professionals aligned with company goals and effectively managing internal and external stakeholders in terms of Customer Satisfaction (CSAT) and Dealer Satisfaction (DSAT) are crucial for success in this role. The desired knowledge and skills for this position include strong communication skills, a deep understanding of GO / HO processes, attention to detail, excellent coordination abilities, strong analytical skills, and proficiency in computer applications such as MS Office, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and technical skills.,
