Assistant Manager / Manager - Utility (Projects)

Role & responsibilities

• Review and understand project scope, design drawings, P&IDs, and mechanical specifications.
• Overall responsible for the 100% Utility working/calculation/installation/Documentation/legal compliance and to make and arrange all the auxiliary requirement of the utility.
• Manage the storage, Plan to execute installation of Boiler, HAG, Chimney, Cooling tower, Raw Water system, Softener, DM and purified water generation & distribution, Chiller, Compressor, Nitrogen plant, Pipe Rack and cable tray approach up to all plants, Fire Hydrant system installation in total.
• Keeping the accounts of Major Utility equipment accessories, electrical and instrumentation, packing list details up to the final commissioning activity.
• Making BOQ for Utility equipment like, Pipe, Fittings, Valve, NRV, IBR pipeline, PRS, SRV, NRV, Bolt & Nuts, Gasket.
• To know and maintain the water quality in different areas like Boiler, Drinking, Process, and maintain the reject quality as per the specified parameter and Qty.
• Maintaining the Utilities water quality as per the requirements during trial and at the time of production.
• Arranging the basic requirements well in advance for projects execution like foundation bolt, lifting equipments, movement path, safety system etc.
• Prepare and update execution schedules, resource plans, and daily/weekly progress reports. Coordinate with project managers, design teams, and consultants for technical clarifications and approvals.
• Ensure foundation checking, alignment, grouting, leveling, and anchoring as per standards.
• Supervise contractors for rigging, lifting, and equipment handling as per safety norms.
• Follow up equipment vendors for drawing approvals, dispatch schedules, inspection, and FAT documentation.
• Ensure material inspection and verification at site against approved specifications.
• Co-ordination with store person for non-conformities (NCRs) in any inwards material.
• Execute fabrication and erection of all internal piping networks and utilities as per the process systems Outside the production plant and inside main header.
• Ensure welding, installation as per the standard and maintain the checklist for installation
• Maintain as-built drawings and test certificates.
• Execute pre-commissioning and commissioning activities such as dry runs, leak tests, trial runs, and alignment checks.
• Coordinate with Electrical, Instrumentation, and Automation teams for integrated commissioning.
• Assist in utility balancing, pressure testing, and loop checking.
• Execute the qualification activities of Utility system like DQ/IQ/OQ and Support to PQ.
• Conduct toolbox training, based on the requirements.
• Ensure all mechanical works are executed as per approved quality plans and method statements.

Preferred candidate profile:

• Must have good site execution knowledge and experience of working with at least two small or one big green field project of Chemicals/API/Specialty Chemicals.
• Must have the exposure and knowledge of legal requirements and installation of the equipment.
• Coordinate with other project engineers and process team in site on day-to-day project execution.
• Coordinates with Sites / Consultants/ cross functional teams for any site instructions and inspection of works.
• Ensure that all the work done is in accordance with the approved construction drawings, contract documents, project specifications and all applicable standards.
• Directly responsible for the safety of all the groups personnel of the project by ensuring that the project execution will be done according to all applicable health, safety, sanitary and environmental standards.

Job Specification:

1.Mechanical Project execution and Good Knowledge in Pharma Utility equipment.

2.Machinery Exposure: Boiler, HAG, Chimney, Cooling tower, Raw Water system, Softener, DM generation & distribution, Chiller, Compressor, Nitrogen plant, Pipe Rack approach up to all plants, Fire Hydrant Pipeline.

3.Have basic knowledge of Utility Equipments and water system.

4.Ability to read technical drawings and make BOQ.

5.Energy Conservation Activity & Project Documentation Activities.

Qualification:

Preferably BE/B. Tech in Mechanical/ Chemical Engineering with good project exposure will also be considered.

Other Pre-requisites:

1.10-15 years of relevant industry experience.

2.The role will involve travelling to other project locations.

3.Day to Day Project management in green field project/brown field project.

4.Mechanical site projection execution capability to meet safety standards.
