Job Description

Role & responsibilities

- The candidate will support Insurance Production and Group Underwriting (UW) initiatives, including system User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and underwriting-related projects. The role requires a strong understanding of group insurance processes, system integration, and project execution under tight timelines.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Demonstrate knowledge and hands-on experience in system integration and development for group insurance business, including underwriting guidelines, workflows, and operational processes.
  • Work effectively on projects with short turnaround times, ensuring timely and quality delivery.
  • Identify and analyse system issues, conduct root cause analysis, and address internal and external audit observations. Implement strategic solutions to improve system performance and compliance.
  • Monitor live projects and UATs, providing timely observations and feedback to ensure continued system stability and performance.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, ensuring optimal allocation of tasks, timelines, and resources for successful project outcomes.
  • Record and manage action items and minutes during project governance meetings, ensuring clear communication and follow-up.
  • Prepare control reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
  • Assist in the assessment of Group Underwriting cases and contribute to the enhancement of underwriting practices.
  • Review and sign off on cases referred to by the junior underwriter
  • Supervision the individual teams on case distribution & completion.
  • Review the cases underwritten by junior underwriters on a monthly basis to minimize error rate.
  • Efficient resolution of Zonal underwriting Queries forwarded by the issuance team within one working day.
  • Assist in various projects undertaken for technical study of the portfolio.
  • To assist the managers to review risk philosophy in order to recommend amendments.
  • Review of high net worth re instatement cases
  • Re underwrite cases that have been referred to by the claims department
  • Participate in risk mitigation plans, contingency planning, business continuity programs by executing and reporting within defined timelines. Highlight and recommend process gaps, flaws and process changes.

Qualification

Bachelor of Science/Pharmacy/Medicine/Life Science/Microbiology or Commerce

Preferred Qualification

ALMI/III-Associate all 6/Diploma in Insurance/MBA in Insurance

Experience

5 years of relevant industry experience / 3 years of domain.
