Assistant II - Lab Support

As a Platform Technician at UST, you play a crucial role in assembling, bringing up, and maintaining hardware platforms such as servers, workstations, and embedded devices. Your responsibilities include configuring hardware components, installing operating systems, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless platform deployment. Your role demands hands-on technical expertise, attention to detail, and effective communication skills. Key Responsibilities: - Assemble, configure, and bring up hardware platforms by installing components, flashing BIOS, and updating firmware. - Install and configure operating systems, drivers, and necessary software for validation or production environments. - Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and document resolutions. - Collaborate with engineers, lab technicians, and stakeholders for platform deployment and testing. - Maintain hardware component inventory and track firmware updates version control. - Adhere to lab safety protocols, ensuring an organized workspace. - Generate and maintain documentation for platform configurations, issues, and resolutions. Qualifications Required: - 2+ years of experience in hardware assembly, system bring-up, or similar technical support roles. - Proficiency in installing and configuring operating systems, drivers, and firmware. - Familiarity with BIOS/UEFI flashing, firmware updates, and hardware validation tools. - Strong troubleshooting skills for hardware and software issues. - Effective communication and collaboration skills with attention to detail and a customer-focused mindset. - Ability to work independently, follow safety guidelines, and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
