Assistant Engineer- Hydrogeology

As a Hydrogeological/Hydrological Specialist at WSP, you will play a crucial role in providing technical support for various projects related to groundwater components, environmental impact assessments, operational water management, and closure/reclamation for the oil sands/mining industry. Your responsibilities will also include conducting geological and hydrogeological data analyses, developing conceptual site models, and applying hydrogeological principles to groundwater projects using conceptual and numerical modelling software. You will be expected to develop techniques and methods to solve groundwater problems, perform specialist numerical modelling and simulations, and prepare technical documentation to support analytical and numerical studies. In addition, you will collaborate with project managers and technical leads, contributing to technical solutions across multiple engineering disciplines in a collaborative environment. To qualify for this role, you should have a degree in Environmental/Mining Engineering or a related field, with a minimum of 2 to 7 years of experience in numerical analyses for engineering applications. Proficiency in commercial numerical groundwater modelling codes such as FEFLOW, MODFLOW, and HydroGeoSphere, as well as experience with visualization software and general-purpose scripting/programming, will be considered assets. An understanding of data science, analytics, and machine learning, along with strong analytical and communication skills, will be beneficial for this position.
