As a Hydrogeological/Hydrological Technical Specialist at WSP, you will have the opportunity to assist project managers and technical leads in executing a wide range of technical services related to hydrogeology and hydrology. Your responsibilities will include contributing to groundwater components of Environmental Impact Assessments, operational water management, and closure/reclamation projects within the oil sands/mining industry. You will provide technical support for geological and hydrogeological data analyses, visualization, and development of conceptual site models. Furthermore, you will be involved in applying hydrogeological principles to groundwater projects using conceptual and numerical modeling software. You will develop innovative techniques and methods to address groundwater challenges, perform specialist numerical modeling and simulations for engineering projects, and prepare technical documentation to support analytical and numerical studies. As a self-starter, you will take ownership of project tasks using your technical expertise and contribute to technical solutions across multiple engineering disciplines in a collaborative environment. You will also work closely with mentors and team members to support your individual career progression and growth. To qualify for this role, you should have a background in Environmental/Mining Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 2 to 7 years of experience. Proficiency in numerical analyses for engineering applications, understanding of numerical methods, and experience with commercial numerical groundwater modeling codes are desirable. Additionally, experience with visualization software, general-purpose scripting/programming, global optimization, and 3D geometries for numerical modeling purposes is advantageous. Moreover, familiarity with data science, machine learning, physical hydrogeology, and strong analytical and communication skills are essential. Experience with Microsoft Office software suite and the ability to work effectively in a team environment are also key requirements.
