As an

Art Director - Mobile Portfolio

, you will define and drive the artistic vision for a rapidly expanding slate of mobile games. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role that blends strategic ownership of visual direction with deep craft expertise.

You will act as the cultural and creative anchor for the mobile division, ensuring every character, environment, animation, and effect meets the highest quality bar while remaining technically viable and market-ready for mobile platforms.

This role is ideal for a seasoned game art leader who enjoys shaping portfolios, mentoring teams, and actively contributing to art creation from early concepts through final polish.

Responsibilities

Portfolio Art Direction & Strategic Vision

Define, own, and evolve the overarching artistic vision and quality bar across all mobile titles.
Ensure alignment between art direction, brand goals, market trends, and player expectations.
Review, analyse, and validate all art concepts, providing detailed feedback on feasibility, scalability, and integration within mobile production frameworks.
Establish and optimise scalable art pipelines to support rapid development cycles across multiple parallel projects while maintaining consistent quality.

Hands-on Craft & Execution

Actively contribute to concept art, visual exploration, style guides, and master assets across multiple visual styles (stylised, painterly, semi-realistic, photorealistic).
Provide expert-level guidance and critique across key art disciplines:
Character & Environment Animation:
Ensuring expressive, functional, and performant animation.
Visual Effects (VFX):
Defining visual language, clarity, impact, and quality benchmarks for effects and feedback systems.
Technical Art:
Partnering closely with engineering to optimise assets, shaders, and workflows for mobile performance without compromising artistic intent.

Team Leadership & Culture

Lead by example with transparency and integrity, embodying and reinforcing the studio s core values.
Mentor, coach, and grow art teams, setting clear expectations and high-performance standards.
Serve as a cultural anchor for the mobile art organisation, onboarding and guiding new team members.
Foster collaboration and community through regular critiques, reviews, and team-building initiatives.
Ensure strong cross-team communication by providing regular updates on goals, progress, and organisational changes.

Skills & Experience

12+ years of professional experience in the game or entertainment industry.
Minimum 5 years in a Lead Artist or Art Director role, with strong experience on mobile games.
Shipped at least 3 original titles, spanning at least 2 distinct genres.
Exceptional portfolio showcasing high-level concept art and art direction across multiple styles and genres.
Strong expertise in character design, environment design, and visual storytelling with a focus on market appeal, technical feasibility, and narrative consistency.
Proven experience integrating AI-assisted workflows (such as Stable Diffusion, Midjourney, Firefly) to accelerate ideation while maintaining a strong and unique visual identity.
Demonstrated ability to design and implement hybrid AI/manual art pipelines to improve efficiency and iteration speed.
Deep understanding of mobile game development pipelines and optimisation for low-to-mid-range mobile hardware.
Expert knowledge of industry-standard tools such as Photoshop, Maya, Blender, and game engines like Unity or Unreal.
Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills, with the ability to translate business and product goals into clear, actionable artistic direction
