Applied Data Scientist

Role Purpose

The Applied Data Scientist is responsible for designing, building, validating, and maintaining explainable machine learning models that directly support credit risk management, collections efficiency, fraud detection, and customer analytics at Muthoot FinCorp Ltd.

The role focuses on production ready, regulator acceptable models rather than experimental research.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop predictive models for credit risk, early warning signals, collections, and cross sell
  • Ensure all models are explainable, documented, and auditable • Collaborate with Risk, Compliance, and Audit for validation and approvals • Monitor model performance and drift • Maintain model documentation and evidence for inspections • Improve models based on feedback and portfolio performance

Key Skills and Experience

• Strong background in statistics, machine learning, and applied analytics
  • Experience in BFSI or regulated financial services preferred • Understanding of model governance and explainability • Ability to communicate model logic to non technical stakeholders

Key Performance Indicators

• Improvement in portfolio performance and delinquency metrics
  • Stability and performance of models within approved thresholds • Zero material audit or RBI observations on models • Timely deployment of models from development to production • Quality and completeness of model documentation
