Android OS Architect

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Android OS Architect to join our team. With

a minimum of 10 years of experience in Android development, this individual will play a pivotal

role in overseeing and guiding our Android OS development efforts with external vendors. The

ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the Android Open Source Project

(AOSP) or Android Automotive Operating System (AAOS) and a proven ability to define and

drive system-level architectural decisions to ensure our products are high-performing, secure,

and stable.

This role requires a technical leader who can act as the primary liaison between our internal

engineering teams and our vendor partners. You will be responsible for providing expert

architectural direction, conducting rigorous code and design reviews, and ensuring that the

final OS implementation meets our strategic goals and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architectural Leadership: Lead the architectural design and strategic planning for all

Android OS development projects.

• Vendor Management: Serve as the main technical point of contact for external

development vendors, managing the technical relationship, and ensuring project

alignment with our vision.

• Technical Guidance: Provide expert guidance and mentorship to vendor teams on

Android OS best practices, including performance optimization, memory management,

and security protocols.

• Code and Design Reviews: Conduct thorough reviews of code and architectural

designs to ensure quality, maintainability, and compliance with our standards.

• Performance & Security: Define and enforce performance and security benchmarks for

the OS build, and work with vendors to identify and resolve any issues.

• Roadmap & Planning: Translate product requirements into detailed technical

specifications and contribute to the long-term OS development roadmap.

• Troubleshooting: Provide high-level technical support and debugging for complex,

system-level issues.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with internal hardware, QA, and product

teams to ensure seamless integration and a superior end-user experience.

Qualifications:

• Experience: A minimum of 10 years in software development, with at least 5 years

specifically in Android OS and system-level architecture.

• Technical Expertise:

Deep, hands-on experience with the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) or

Android Automotive Operating System (AAOS).

Expertise in C++, Java, and Kotlin.

Strong knowledge of the Android system architecture (Linux kernel, HALs, Framework

Services, ART).

Proficiency with Android build systems and debugging tools like systrace, adb, and

logcat.

• Vendor Management: Proven experience in managing and providing technical oversight

for external development partners.

• Problem-Solving: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to

debug and resolve complex technical issues.

• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively

collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Education:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related

field
