Agri R&D Lead

Role Overview: You will be the Agri R&D Lead based in Noida, reporting to the top management in the Agri business domain. As a senior leader, you will be responsible for leading R&D activities focusing on plant science technology-led cultivation and engineering, such as hydroponics and aquaponics. Your primary objectives will be to produce high-quality crops with superior yield and cost efficiency. You will collaborate with field operations teams to implement R&D solutions at a commercial scale. Key Responsibilities: - Develop and align a comprehensive R&D strategy based on business objectives and industry trends - Create and execute an annual R&D operational plan in alignment with overall business and R&D strategy - Provide recommendations to the Board on matters related to land acquisition, crop selection, and scaling up innovative technologies - Deliver technological solutions to enhance competitiveness and increase yields - Monitor and track progress of R&D initiatives, implement tools for success improvement, and train farm teams on new developments - Conduct market research, identify potential partners for trials in India, and collaborate with global and Indian Agri universities and research labs - Create and protect intellectual property through patent applications and strategy development - Manage the R&D team by recruiting and retaining talent, setting KPIs, and conducting performance assessments Qualification Required: - PhD in Agri science from tier-1 institutes (IISc, ICAR, etc. in India and abroad) - 15+ years of experience in Agri business with a preference for modern farming practices like hydroponics - Proven track record in varietal production, working with farm operations, and deploying innovations at a commercial scale Additional Details of the Company: The company is a fast-paced start-up environment with aspirations to become a 500+Cr global company within 2-3 years.
