Summary
Responsible for developing and managing comprehensive Industrial Exposure Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and mitigation systems to eliminate or minimize industrial hygiene and occupational exposure risks inherent in operations. Ensure the health and safety of all employees by adhering to statutory and legal requirements under the Factory Act. This role involves establishing ergonomics standards, applying human factors engineering principles, and addressing occupational health hazards through optimal equipment layout and design.The position requires expertise in recognizing, evaluating, and controlling workplace hazards, including air contaminants and chemical, biological, physical, and ergonomic risks. The incumbent will recommend effective control measures to maintain a safe and compliant work environment
Job Responsibilities
Hazard identification and remediation
- To conduct workplace monitoring surveys for possible contaminations and physical hazards like noise, light etc. at workplace.
- Conduct surveys and observe work conditions to identify processes which pose a risk to health (Physical, Biological, Radiation, Air Contaminants & Chemical exposure) of employees
- Analyze and interpret results of an assessment to develop plans for improved work conditions
- Update sites on the findings of an industrial assessment and monitor the implementation of the corrections.
- Do Facility Sitings (visual) assessment for locations
- Conduct Human Factors Engineering assessments of the sites
- Recommendation of such studies tracking through plant teams.
- Design the workplace, equipment layout and right occupational health design for existing, brownfield and greenfield projects.
Trainings and knowledge updation
- To provide new inventions related to IH to update the organization procedures.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of statutory requirements on occupational safety
- Organize training to educate workers on health/safety requirements necessary for a hazard-free environment
Investigation of incidents and corrective measures
- Carry out investigations to evaluate adequacy of ventilation, lighting and other conditions required for facilities for avoidance of major hazards e.g. leakage leading to fire or explosion.
- Do simulations of Major Hazards Management, Prepare reports and maintain records of observations, contaminant analysis and recommended control
- Liaise with site EHS and OHC to design remedial measures for ergonomics, occupational health hazardous conditions and intrinsic equipment layout / design conditions.
- Lead the investigations of incidents related to ineffective design.
- Ensure all such incident tracking and investigation.
- Tracking of CAPA implementation related to incident investigation
The Person
Qualifications & Experience
- Certified Industrial Hygienist and preferably from medical education (e.g. MBBS) or Bachelor equivalent in Industrial (Hygiene) Engineering Management with 12-16 years experience.
- Strong understanding of process in manufacturing, speciality chemical manufacturing with focus on health hazard and risk mitigation related to Industrial Hygiene.
