An assistant accountant's job description includes managing daily financial records, processing invoices and payments, assisting with bank reconciliations, and preparing financial documents like bills and purchase orders. The role also involves maintaining ledgers, identifying and correcting discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements such as GST and TDS. Key skills for this position include proficiency in accounting software like Tally and strong knowledge of MS Excel.  Maintain financial records: Keep company ledgers and daily financial transactions up to date. Process invoices and payments: Handle incoming and outgoing invoices, expense forms, and payment requests. Prepare financial documents: Create documents such as bills, receipts, and purchase orders. Perform reconciliations: Conduct bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy. Identify and correct errors: Investigate discrepancies in ledgers and accounts and take corrective action. Ensure statutory compliance: Assist with handling and ensuring timely payment of taxes like GST and TDS. Assist with month-end closing: Help with closing entries and month-end procedures.
