3D Rigging Artist

Role Description

This is a full-time freelance (contract) role for a 3D Rigging Artist. The ideal candidate should be experienced in creating production-ready rigs and have a solid understanding of animation principles and basic AI-driven workflows or tools.

Responsibilities

• Create efficient and animator-friendly rigs for characters, creatures, and props.
• Implement deformers, constraints, IK/FK systems, and skinning setups.
• Collaborate closely with the modeling and animation teams to ensure smooth functionality.
• Troubleshoot rigging issues and deliver clean, optimized files.
• Follow industry-standard naming conventions and rigging best practices.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in 3D rigging for games or animation projects.
• Strong understanding of anatomy and deformation workflows.
• Proficiency in

  Maya

  (primary),

  Blender

  or

  3ds Max

  (optional).
• Experience in skin weighting, facial rigging, and blend shapes.

• Basic knowledge of animation principles

  (timing, posing, breakdowns).

• Basic understanding of AI tools

  or processes related to 3D pipelines.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Bonus Skills

• Familiarity with

  Python

  MEL scripting
