R&D Executive

The R&D Executive is responsible for supporting the development, qualification, and continuous improvement of coil coating products through the evaluation of raw materials, resolution of quality concerns, and technical assistance to manufacturing processes. This role includes active involvement in product formulation, laboratory testing, data analysis, and scale-up support to ensure the performance and reliability of coatings under production conditions.

The position will work closely with cross-functional teams including Technical Service, Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality, and Commercial functions to support both new product development and the maintenance of existing formulations. The R&D Executive will also contribute to technical documentation and provide input during commercialization efforts, ensuring products meet internal standards and customer requirements.

R&D Executive is Reporting directly to the R&D Manager and this role demands strong technical acumen, effective communication skills, and a commitment to innovation, quality, and operational excellence.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Select appropriate raw materials and apply formulation knowledge to develop coil coating systems that meet defined product specifications and customer performance requirements.
• Conduct paint formulation, laboratory testing, performance evaluation, and data analysis with a high level of technical rigor.
• Accurately document experimental results, maintain lab notebooks, and prepare technical reports and presentations to support internal reviews or customer discussions.
• Collaborate closely with Sales, Manufacturing, Regional and Global Product Managers, and cross-functional support teams to ensure successful product development and commercialization.
• Expand technical and market knowledge related to coil coating technologies and their applications across relevant industries.
• Plan, prioritize, and execute laboratory work within defined timelines, ensuring timely delivery of results and recommendations.
• Proactively identify opportunities for product or process improvements and lead or support Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives.
• Ensure strict adherence to company safety protocols, environmental guidelines, and quality standards in all R&D and testing activities.
• Perform application and performance testing to validate coating performance against customer and industry specifications.
• Utilize formulation and laboratory management software to streamline development activities and ensure data traceability.
• Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) for data analysis, reporting, and communication.
• Perform additional R&D-related tasks and support activities as assigned by the R&D Manager or technical leadership.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• A university degree in Chemistry, Paint Technology, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field is required.
• Formal training or certifications in coatings formulation, industrial paint technology, or analytical techniques will be beneficial.
• Minimum of 2 - 4 years of relevant experience in a research and development or technical role within the coil coatings, industrial coatings, or paint and chemical manufacturing industry.
• Hands-on experience with raw material evaluation, formulation development, lab-scale testing, and application methods is essential.
• Exposure to scale up processes, quality troubleshooting, and cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing, procurement, and technical service teams is highly desirable.
