Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced WordPress Developer with advanced coding abilities to design, develop, and maintain complex WordPress websites and web applications. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of WordPress architecture, PHP development, custom theme and plugin creation, and full-stack web development best practices. Key Responsibilities Custom Theme Development: Design and build custom WordPress themes from scratch, ensuring responsiveness, performance, and adherence to best coding standards. Custom Plugin Development: Develop, maintain, and extend custom WordPress plugins to add bespoke functionality, ensuring security and performance. Site Optimization: Optimize website performance, speed, SEO, and security using modern tools and best practices. API Integrations: Integrate third-party APIs and external services (REST, GraphQL, etc.) as required by business needs. Advanced Troubleshooting: Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve complex issues at the code level, including PHP errors, JavaScript conflicts, and server-related problems. Version Control: Use Git or similar version control systems for collaborative development, branching, and code review. Database Management: Design, query, and optimize MySQL databases used by WordPress sites. Front-end Development: Write clean, maintainable HTML, CSS (preferably SASS/SCSS), and JavaScript (including modern JS frameworks/libraries if needed). Website Migration & Maintenance: Manage website migrations, regular backups, and updates to WordPress core, themes, and plugins. Security: Implement website security best practices, including vulnerability assessments and hardening WordPress installations. Collaboration: Work closely with UI/UX designers, project managers, and content teams to deliver business requirements. Documentation: Document code, processes, and maintain technical documentation for all custom development. Required Skills & Qualifications Education: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience). Technical Skills: 3+ years of hands-on WordPress development experience Strong proficiency in PHP, MySQL, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery Experience with REST APIs, AJAX, and JSON Advanced knowledge of WordPress hooks, actions, filters, and WP Query Experience with custom post types, taxonomies, and WordPress multisite Experience with page builders (Elementor, WPBakery, Gutenberg, etc.) is a plus Familiarity with command line tools (WP-CLI, Composer, etc.) Solid experience with Git version control Understanding of web accessibility, SEO, and website optimization Experience integrating third-party services and APIs Experience working with Linux-based hosting environments and cPanel/WHM Other Skills: Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality standards Strong time management and organizational skills Preferred Qualifications Experience with React, Vue.js, or other front-end frameworks Experience with headless WordPress/decoupled architecture (using WP as a backend only) Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for web deployment Experience with WooCommerce customization and integrations Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies
