WordPress Developer (Hourly, with Potential For Dedicated Hiring)

We are looking for a skilled WordPress Developer to design, develop, and maintain WordPress websites, themes, and plugins. The ideal candidate will have expertise in both front-end and back-end development, a strong understanding of website optimization, and a commitment to delivering secure, scalable, and user-friendly websites. This role begins as an hourly contract position with the opportunity for full-time employment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop, customize, and maintain WordPress websites, themes, and plugins to meet project requirements.
2. Optimize website performance, including page speed, SEO, and mobile responsiveness.
3. Integrate APIs and third-party services (e.g., payment gateways, CRMs) to enhance website functionality.
4. Troubleshoot and resolve website issues, including bugs, errors, and compatibility problems.
5. Collaborate with designers and content creators to implement visually appealing and functional designs.
6. Ensure website security through regular updates, backups, and adherence to security best practices.
7. Manage and maintain the WordPress hosting environment, including database management and optimization.
8. Deploy websites on hosting servers and manage server configurations.
9. Monitor website analytics and make data-driven decisions to improve performance and user experience.
10. Perform regular version upgrades and ensure compatibility with the latest WordPress updates.
11. Optimize databases for performance and scalability using MySQL and MariaDB.
12. Conduct site audits and implement optimization strategies for improved performance and SEO.
13. Stay updated with the latest WordPress trends, tools, and technologies.

Technical Expertise Required

• Proficient in WordPress core, themes, and plugin development.
• Expertise in custom theme and plugin development.
• Deep understanding of the WordPress REST API.
• Strong skills in PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery.
• Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks like React or Vue.js (preferred).
• Proficiency in MySQL and MariaDB for database management and optimization.
• Experience in website optimization techniques, including caching, image optimization, and code minification.
• Familiarity with performance analysis tools like GTmetrix, Google PageSpeed Insights, and Lighthouse.
• Knowledge of on-page SEO best practices and tools like Yoast SEO or Rank Math.
• Familiarity with WCAG and ADA accessibility standards for websites.
• Proficient in version control systems like Git.
• Experience with WordPress builders like Elementor, Divi, or WPBakery (optional).
• Familiarity with website hosting platforms like AWS, WP Engine, or SiteGround.
• Knowledge of WordPress security best practices, including regular updates, backups, and malware prevention.
• Experience with security tools like Sucuri or Wordfence.
• Familiarity with WooCommerce for e-commerce website development.
• Experience with multi-language website development using tools like WPML or Polylang.

Hourly Rate

• Flexible hours, with options for 2-hour, 4-hour, or 8-hour shifts based on project needs and candidate availability.
• Availability for meetings and updates in IST (Indian Standard Time) preferred.

Transition to Dedicated Hiring

• Based on performance, project requirements, and mutual agreement, the role may transition to a full-time, dedicated position with SumoPro Digital.
