Role Overview

WLAN Developer

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and modify

  Linux WLAN drivers

  (cfg80211, mac80211, nl80211).
• Work on

  Wi-Fi chipset bring-up

  (Qualcomm/MediaTek/Broadcom/Intel/Realtek).
• Integrate and debug

  WLAN firmware

  for 802.11n/ac/ax/be.
• Troubleshoot Wi-Fi issues using logs, hostapd, wpa_supplicant, and regulatory tools.
  
• Analyze 802.11 frames using

  Wireshark

  and improve throughput, latency, and RF performance.
• Optimize WLAN features such as

  WPA3, roaming, MIMO, OFDMA, MU-MIMO

  .
• Perform board support package (BSP) bring-up and

  cross-compiling

  for embedded platforms.
• Collaborate with kernel, hardware, and QA teams for feature development and issue resolution.
  
• Work on build systems like

  Yocto / Buildroot

  , kernel config, and device tree changes.

Required Skills

• Linux WLAN driver development (cfg80211/mac80211).
  
• Experience with Wi-Fi chipsets:

  Qualcomm, MediaTek, Broadcom, Intel, Realtek

  .
• Strong knowledge of

  802.11 standards (n/ac/ax/be)

  .
• WLAN firmware bring-up, rate control, calibration, and performance tuning.
  
• Hostapd & wpa_supplicant configuration and debugging.
  
• 802.11 packet analysis using

  Wireshark

  .
• Kernel programming in

  C / Embedded C

  .
• Cross-compiling, toolchains, and BSP development.
  
• Understanding of PHY/MAC concepts (MCS, RSSI, SNR, MU-MIMO, OFDMA).
  

Good to Have

• Knowledge of SDIO/PCIe/SPI Wi-Fi interfaces.
  
• Experience with U-Boot, bootloaders, device tree overlays.
  
• Exposure to automation tools for WLAN testing.
