Position: Web Animation & Interactive Frontend Engineer

Type: Full-time / Contract

We are building an interactive EdTech experience featuring a 2D AI-powered penguin character that teaches children English grammar in real time. We’re looking for a developer with strong experience in web-based animation and real-time lip-sync to bring this character to life inside a browser environment.

What You’ll Do

Develop a high-quality 2D character animation system using PixiJS, Phaser.js, Spine, or similar frameworks

Implement real-time lip-sync using phoneme/viseme data from OpenAI or ElevenLabs

Build interactive, emotion-driven character behaviors (idle, happy, thinking, corrections, etc.)

Integrate with AI backend services via WebSockets for real-time speech and events

Collaborate closely with backend engineers, designers, and animators

What We’re Looking For

Strong proficiency in WebGL/Canvas, PixiJS, Phaser.js, or equivalent

Experience with 2D rigging/animation workflows (Spine, Live2D, sprite sheets)

Hands-on experience with real-time audio-driven animation or lip-sync

Strong JavaScript/TypeScript skills

Familiarity with AI-driven frontends is a plus (OpenAI, ElevenLabs, real-time TTS/STT)

Nice to Have

Experience in educational or children-focused digital products

Understanding of phonemes/visemes and animation timing

Experience embedding WebGL/Canvas in React/Next.js
