Vmc setter cum operator

Job Summary

The VMC Setter Cum Operator is responsible for setting, operating, and monitoring Vertical Machining Centers (VMC) to produce precision components as per engineering drawings, quality standards, and production schedules.

Key ResponsibilitiesMachine Setup & Operation

• Set up VMC machines by loading programs, fixtures, tools, and workpieces
• Perform machine zero setting, tool offsets, and work offsets (G54–G59)
• Operate VMC machines to produce parts as per drawings and specifications
• Run proven CNC programs and make minor program edits if required

Programming Support

• Assist in basic CNC programming or editing using G-code / M-code
• Coordinate with CAM programmers for program modifications
• Verify programs through dry run and trial machining

Quality Control

• Inspect machined components using vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauge, etc.
• Ensure components meet dimensional and surface finish requirements
• Identify and rectify machining defects and tool wear

Tool & Fixture Management

• Select and change cutting tools as per process requirement
• Maintain tool life records and replace worn tools
• Handle and maintain jigs, fixtures, and clamps properly

Productivity & Process Improvement

• Achieve production targets with minimum cycle time and rejection
• Suggest improvements in machining processes and setups
• Reduce scrap and rework through proper setup and monitoring

Machine Maintenance & Safety

• Perform daily machine checks and basic preventive maintenance
• Maintain cleanliness of machine and work area (5S)
• Follow safety rules, PPE usage, and shop-floor discipline

Documentation & Coordination

• Maintain production records, inspection reports, and tool usage logs
• Coordinate with quality, maintenance, and planning teams
• Support continuous improvement and audit activities

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹12,615.97 - ₹32,674.54 per month
