VMC Machine Operator

Job Title: VMC Operator (Vertical Machining Center Operator)

Job Summary

The VMC Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining Vertical Machining Center (VMC) machines to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Operate VMC machines to manufacture parts as per specifications

Set up machines by loading programs, tools, and fixtures

Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions

Perform basic program edits (offsets, tool changes, corrections)

Monitor machine operations and make adjustments as needed

Inspect finished components using measuring tools (vernier calipers, micrometers, gauges)

Ensure parts meet quality and tolerance requirements

Maintain cleanliness and safety of the work area

Report machine issues, defects, or deviations to supervisors

Follow all safety rules and standard operating procedures

Required Qualifications

Diploma / ITI / Certificate in Machining, CNC, or Mechanical field

Basic knowledge of VMC machines and CNC operations

Ability to read technical drawings and specifications

Understanding of cutting tools, feeds, and speeds

Skills & Competencies

Knowledge of CNC/VMC operations

Attention to detail and accuracy

Basic computer and machine interface skills

Problem-solving abilities

Good hand-eye coordination

Ability to work independently or as part of a team

Experience

Experienced candidates (4-5 years) may apply

Prior experience in a manufacturing or machining environment is an advantage

Work Conditions

Shop-floor / factory environment

May involve shift work

Requires standing for extended periods and handling machine tools
