Job Description for a VMC (Vertical Machining Center) Operator Job Title: VMC Operator Department: Production / Machine Shop Location: Eloquent Technology, Near Chethan Circle, Andrahahalli Main Road, Peenya 2nd stage Employment Type: Full-Time Role Summary The VMC Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring VMC Vertical Machining Centers to manufacture precision components as per drawings, specifications, and quality standards. The role requires machine setting knowledge, tool handling capability, basic programming understanding, dimensional inspection, and adherence to safety and productivity norms. Key Responsibilities Operate and monitor VMC machines (Mitsubishi or relevant controller). Perform machine setting, including: Workpiece clamping and zero setting Tool setting & offsets Fixture installation and alignment Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and machining symbols. Load CNC programs and assist in minor program edits if required. Verify dimensions using measuring instruments such as: Vernier Caliper Micrometer Height Gauge Bore Gauge Dial Gauge CMM (optional advantage) Maintain machining accuracy as per tolerance and surface finish requirements. Perform first piece inspection, in-process inspection, and final inspection documentation. Monitor cutting conditions, feeds, speeds, and tool wear. Ensure efficient cycle time and reduction of rejections. Maintain housekeeping (5S) and follow safety standards. Coordinate with Production & Quality team regarding issues or improvements. Conduct basic preventive maintenance and machine upkeep. Maintain production records, job cards, and reports.
